on a recent trip to iceland, i found myself wishing to be elsewhere. my fascination with space and emptiness led me there, but it never felt enough. in an already otherworldly place, i was accumulating other longings.
driven by iceland's strong belief in hidden people and hidden places, in magic and mysticism, i looked further beyond all that vastness. using the traditional darkroom process, i attempted to reveal more. experimenting with liquid light, images of landscapes that are considered to be some of the most mystical in the country were exposed twice over. techniques like hand coloring, overlaying negatives, and manipulating of objects found in certain regions, were utilized to create new landscapes -- imagined pictures of what these other places might look like.
other other worlds is an exploration within an exploration, a search and creation for more, a handcrafted glimpse into the non-places -- the dream places that are not tied to geography but are always there.
